To the editor of the LA Times, in regard to this article,
To quote David Beckham, please be honest about the “effects” of the SAG/AFTRA and WGA strikes. Those strikes did not cause the current slowdown in productions.
From a tumblr post asking about if a trans protagonist was coming
While I never say “never,” the likelihood of a transgendered lead character is so slim as to be invisible. Here is why. I support myself with my writing; I do not have the luxury of writing books for special-interest audiences. In my limited experience, so much of a transgendered person’s life and thought is tied up in their gender difficulties, the ordinary reader would swiftly become bored with such a character; even Vanyel’s whinging grates on some peoples’ nerves. A wider audience wants to see a character with problems that are solvable; in a modern or sf context, a transgendered person could solve the situation with surgery, genetic modification, body-swap, or whatever. Those options are not available to a fantasy author.[a tumblr user that I can ID, but choose not to because they already got dog-piled for this daft take in 2021, and perhaps amended some of their notions.]
Rescued from a short twitter thread in 2021
This is the post (obscured) that started me off.

Summer reminder, since many are heading out into the national parks and federal lands:
Be VERY careful with anything that looks like a sprinkler head or trash in the ground – it could easily be an M44 cyanide device. It can kill humans and dogs.
Our tax dollars pay for this poison.

From a Twitter thread from 2020. Everything old is new again.
Bloc for everyone! 🧵
Or how I misspent my late teens & 20s.
Caveat: I learned bloc tactics from East Coast and West Coast activists, who learned from European environmental and anti-racist activists. And I learned a long time ago, as these things go.
BLOC EVOLVES.
Recreating a dead recipe from a long-lost local fast food vendor. With a vegan variant!
When I first moved to Boulder in 2000, we had a great fast food restaurant called Wok n Roll that served teriyaki and yakitori, mostly chicken. It was definitely a sodiYUM experience but still healthier than burgers or anything fried.
